Souter Lighthouse Holiday Cottages
If you fancy staying somewhere a bit different why not experience the unique atmosphere of a lighthouse!
The iconic North East landmark of Souter Lighthouse, near South Shields, has two cottages ideal for such a break. They were once home to the lighthouse employees but have been lovingly modernised to provide comfortable self catering accommodation.
Each cottage is decorated to a high standard and is equipped with all the mod-cons. Both can sleep up to 4 people and come with a double and twin room. A cot is available upon request and dogs can also be accepted by arrangement.
The lighthouse is no longer operational, so there's no need to worry about an early morning foghorn!
It is managed by the National Trust and visitors can still explore the property and climb to the top of the tower to see the stunning coastal views.
Surrounding the lighthouse are miles and miles of grassy fields, spectacular cliffs and rocky bays, and the nearby attractions of South Shields and the rest of the region are all just a short distance away.
