Summer in South Tyneside
Here's some ideas of activities and things to do during the summer holiday.
Looking for fun things to do this summer? Check out below for some ideas and the summer holiday events calendar:
South Tyneside Family Discovery Trails
South Tyneside is the perfect place to stretch your legs, get some fresh air and enjoy some family time while walking along our beaches and coastline, in our parks and over our hills.
There are seven walks around the area, with activities and sights on each walk to see along the way.
Check out the walks at: South Tyneside Family Discovery Trails
Explore the outdoors
Summer is the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with your family outdoors around some great South Tyneside spots.
Head to The Leas, which has miles of open, grassy space with sea views for miles. Fly a kite, play a game of cricket and have a picnic! There are also a series of coastal paths which twist and turn giving you access to bays, caves, coves and bird watching all the way to Marsden Bay, Souter Lighthouse and beyond.
Why not also take in one of our local parks, local nature reserves or wildlife sites? For views across to Sunderland and beyond head up to Cleadon Hills for a short walk, or why not head to Hebburn Riverside Park for views along the River Tyne. They both also feature in the new Family Discovery Walking Trails mentioned above!
Ocean Beach Pleasure Park
Enjoy the excitement and thrills of a family trip to Ocean Beach Pleasure Park! With over 40 rides and attractions, arcades, game stalls and Laserforce, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Find out more information and check out the opening times at: Ocean Beach Pleasure Park
The Dunes
There's lots for the family to enjoy at The Dunes, including their indoor galleon-themed soft play, ten pin bowling and arcades, plus yummy food and drink at their Brig Bar and Sambucca's.
To avoid disappointment pre-booking is advised. You can book at: Dunes Adventure Island
