An innovative new outdoor fitness facility is offering ninja style obstacles at South Shields seafront for you to try.
The Ninja Fitness Trail is created on 400 square metres of artificial grass at the skatepark alongside Sandhaven Beach and features:
a sprint track
hurdles and more
The trail also boasts a large solar-powered stopwatch, against a selfie board, allowing fitness enthusiasts to help beat their personal bests or monitor the times of their team mates, then share their achievements using social media.
The Ninja concept - the first of its kind in the country - evolved following a design consultation carried out by a local firm called Play Fitness with school children in the Borough, who overwhelmingly aspired to see a Ninja Warrior type creation.
Play Fitness now plans to promote the finished product with its seafront location as the company's flagship project, with a view to rolling it out to other parts of the country.
The Ninja Fitness Trail is open access and offer people of all fitness levels the opportunity to exercise at any time of the day free of charge.
